One of the most important Spanish autonomous communities regarding gastronomy, culture, architecture… That’s why we will show you Galicia’s finest places for a whole weekend, visiting cities like Santiago de Compostela, Lugo and A Coruña. On the other hand, we will also have time to party, for that we will team up with Sharing Galicia to have a great time with other exchange students!
Galicia is well known for many reasons:

Route for the trip :
Day 1 :
Santiago de Compostela
Leaving from Bilbao to Santiago de Compostela, we will stop on our way to the ‘Playa de las Catedrales de Lugo’, and if the weather’s in a good mood, we will get down to the beach. Afterwards, we will go to Santiago de Compostela where we will check in the hostel. We will then visit the city in the afternoon with official guides before having free time.
And when the night comes… we go party hard with ‘Sharing Galicia’ through one of the best student atmospheres of Spain! Are you ready?
Playas de las Catedrales

If you want to know more about the place:
Its name comes from the fact that the rocks on the beach are similar to a cathedral’s gothic arch. The most picturesque ones are the ones that were carved the Cantabrian sea through the years, some of them reach an height of 30 meters and you can actually walk over there when there is low tide.
Santiago de Compostela

Capital of Galicia, its cathedral is the best representation of roman art in Spain. It is also the ending point of the “pilgrimage of Compostela”, that has brought pilgrims of Christianity to the tomb of an apostle through centuries.
Day 2:
A Coruña

The second day, we first enjoy a good breakfast at the hostel and then make our way to A Coruña where we will have another guided tour before free time. Before that’s the day ends, we will go back to Santiago de Compostela.
A Coruña is the second biggest city of Galicia, and you can find there the world’s oldest roman lighthouse and also the only one still working to these days. Known has the ‘Torre de Herculés’, it was built during the second half of the 1st century by Gaio Sevio Lupo. Although the facade suffered a reformation in the 18th century. It has two maritime facades, one facing the estuary and one the bay.
Day 3:
Lugo

We eventually come to the third and last day where we will have the chance to have breakfast and get our luggage ready in order to visit Lugo on our way back to San Sebastián. Known as ‘La Muy Noble y Leal Ciudad’ (litterally: Higly noble and loyal city), this is Galicia’s oldest city, its roman wall is the only one the world that hasn’t been damaged through times and has therefore been declared a World Heritage Site.
